Nursery Room Inspiration

Once we officially found out the gender, I started viewing nursery inspiration on Pinterest.-- For those of you who do not already know, we are having a Baby Girl. You can read more about our Gender Reveal party here.

I became quickly obsessed with Gold, Pink and Grey and decided to design our nursery room in those colors. I knew I wanted grey walls with pink and gold details throughout the room.

I found a crib sheet set on Carousel Designs that I instantly fell in love with. So I knew I wanted to incorporate chevron and polka dot patterns in the room too!

I also really love the shabby chic picture frames, and hope to somehow incorporate that into our design.  I will be working with a designer from Laurel and Wolf to help design the nursery. I won it from the Ellen show, so I will be using it towards the nursery! (More on that later) P.S. they are offering 50% off their design services using code SUMMER50.

I just love these colors together! We are pretty set on painting the walls grey, and my parents just purchased our crib and dresser in a lighter grey so I am thinking we will go with a little darker grey than originally planned. I think it's going to turn out really cute and I can't wait to share the process!

Weekending

Happy Monday lovies! Another weekend comes to an end, which is always such a bummer. The Hubby and I really kicked things into gear this weekend to get stuff done. He was originally planning on going out of town to the river but I convinced him to stay and help get the nursery ready, now that we KNOW it's a girl.

We double checked this weekend and went to an ultrasound place to verify. I wanted to make sure before buying some pink items! We got to see her hiccup too, it was so cute!

On Friday I started going through the room getting rid of the rest of things I've had in boxes that's just been sitting in there for the past few years. Mostly miscellaneous items, some I gave away for free and the wedding items which I ended up keeping and storing in a bin to be placed in the garage. It felt good to finally go through almost everything and clear out the junk and de-clutter. It's been a long time coming. I also completed and shipped out my last aisle runner order for the year. (I'm taking some time off from the shop to prep for Baby Girl-- I may reopen a little beforehand but I didn't want to overwhelm myself.)

Once Saturday came around, we took hubby's car to the shop for an oil change and then went to breakfast. I haven't had much coffee while being pregnant, so I treated myself to some with breakfast.

So worth it.

After breakfast we hit the mall to take his phone in since the charging pad hadn't been working properly. It ended up being filled with lint. He took a little tool and scooped it out of the charging area and it worked perfectly after that. Who knew?!  Once that was fixed we went to Babies R Us to start our First Baby Registry. Hubby took the scanner from me and we picked everything out together. (I was pretty shocked he was so into it! He was having too much fun.)

We had such a great experience with the employees. They were very helpful and thorough and we even got a Welcome gift with some goodies!

After we got a pretty good idea of what we needed, I decided I could do the rest online. We went through the entire store, but I knew I needed to research some things. This is all so new to me, and I have no idea what we need! So if you have any tips or suggestions please comment your input! I'm open ears!

We went to pick up hubbies car and take the truck in for service too and went to Home depot to pick out paint and paint supplies for the nursery. I knew I wanted grey for the walls so we decided on Behr Cool Ashes Grey. Hubby went to town touching up the baseboards and prepping the tape to begin painting. While he did that, I continued to De-clutter my office and around the house.

Once he prepped everything, and painted the baseboards, we headed to Buy Buy Baby to begin our second registry. I of course had to take advantage of the "Expectant Mothers Parking."

Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby have some different options from one another so it was kind of like getting a "second opinion." And to add some different items to the registry. We also got a Welcome Bag from them too!

The start of the painting!
We eventually called it quits for the day and ordered some salad, pizza and cheese bread and enjoyed it on the patio while conversing with the neighbors. I also found this American Flag bandana while cleaning and of course had Oscar wear it the rest of the night.

They got a little bit of pizza scraps too!

On Sunday, hubby finished painting the room and we watched some of the sporting events for the NCAA.  We were waiting for the Cal State Fullerton Baseball Game vs. Long Beach for the NCAA and they won are heading to Omaha for the World Series! Whoo hoo!
Overall we had a very productive weekend and I feel so much better getting things done! We get our crib and dresser delivered this week so I wanted to really get a head start on everything.

I'll be sharing my nursery colors and inspiration in my next post this week so stay tuned!

If you have any suggestions or recommendations on items to add to our registry, please let me know in the comments!

Gender Reveal Party

Before we received the news that we were expecting, I knew I wanted to have some sort of Gender Reveal party. The idea of finding out such exciting news in a party environment, surrounded by our friends and loved ones, was much more appealing than being in a quiet doctor's room.

The next big question was - will we be in on the surprise, or will we find out at the party with everyone else? I originally wanted to find out with just my husband and I and have that moment together, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to find out the same time as everyone else. That and I didn't know if I'd be able to keep it a secret from everyone! So we decided to hold out and be surprised at our own gender reveal. I really didn't have a hard time waiting, I figured I hadn't known for 22 weeks, so what's another day? My husband was the eager one though! He kept trying to get me to open the envelope. (Which I hid, and then I made a "fake" envelope with a note that basically said he was a sucker for opening it that I had left out on the kitchen table to see if he would try to be sneaky--which he did not end up opening! So he passed the test, haha!)

At first I was convinced that we were having a girl, but then other times I would think boy. I really did not have a clue what he or she was going to be. I knew the theme I wanted for our gender reveal, Baseballs or Bows? Since my husbands family is a huge baseball family, the theme fit perfectly. I found the perfect invitation on etsy from Magical Invitations. The shop owner was so easy to work with, and I received my custom PDF from her within a few hours. I had them printed on Vista Print and they shipped within a week. The process was very easy and stress free.

After ordering the invitations, I started a private Pinterest board to gather ideas and inspiration and ideas, and it's now public here if you want to take a peek at our inspiration for the party.

I created an old wives tale prediction chart, the pink text for girl and the blue text for boy. As you can see there were more pink than blue.

I also made a Voting station for guests to place their votes. More guests voted BOY as you can see.

I kept the decorations simple with streamers and balloons and had a banner in the family room saying "Boy or Girl." We set up some tables outside with corn hole so the guys could have something to do.

We had sandwiches, pinwheels, pasta salad, grape salad, olives, fruit, a jalopeno corn dip and a spinach artichoke dip. For the dessert table, we had cupcakes, dipped white oreos, and a cake. For drinks, we made pink lemonade, a blue Hawaiian pineapple drink, and iced tea.  We also had some beers and water available.

After everyone got some food, and mingled, we decided to make our way up to the greenbelt up the street to do our big reveal. I gave my friend the box that contained two different color baseballs that I ordered from an etsy shop -Gender Reveal Parties--one baseball was filled with blue and one with pink.  I gave her the envelope that the Dr. sealed for us so no one would peak! My friend was the only one to know for those few minutes up the street. She tried not making eye contact with anyone. It was funny.

We did a practice shot first, and then the big reveal!  I swear my husbands really excited and he was putting on somewhat of an act. Haha! It was funny when he threw the bat down.

It was such a fun party and so great to see everyone! Now that we know it's a GIRL, we can start our Baby Registry and planning for the Baby Shower and the nursery! Oh and figuring out a name!

BumpBox Reveal

As soon as we found out we were expecting, I was on the hunt for the best pregnancy products. Surprisingly enough I had trouble finding things for pregnancy, most of the stuff they had was for babies. I knew there had to be something online (especially nowadays) with all the subscription boxes out there.

That's when I discovered BumpBoxes! A monthly subscription box with FULL SIZE products specifically tailored to your pregnancy needs. You enter your due date, and they will send a box per month with items that are exactly what you need. You can choose to subscribe month-by-month (which you can cancel at anytime), a 3 month subscription, a 6 month subscription or a 9 month subscription.  They also have boxes for after you give birth.
If you are purchasing a BumpBox as a gift, they also have options per trimester, baby shower gift boxes, and more!

I received my first box around 15 weeks of pregnancy and here is what I received:

I actually ended up calling about the Prenatal DHA pills because I'm always nervous about anything to do with pills and my baby. And I currently have been taking my own Prenatals so I didn't want to change that up as they are working great for me. The lady I spoke to was very helpful, assured me that all the products they choose are tested, and the best products out there. She's a mom too so she totally understood my concern. I was still a little nervous to try them out so she sent me a return label for the prenatals and credited the cost of them to my account that I can use on a future purchase. Hows' that for some great customer service?  I love how they stand by their products and if you are not 100% satisfied, they will send you a prepaid label to ship the item back.

I purchased my first box for $27.99 with the 30% off coupon, and the products in my box would have costed me $57 if I were to have purchased them separately. It's a pretty good deal and a way for a new mom-t0-be to learn about new products.

You can get 30% off your first box! Use code MYBUMPLIFE at checkout

I get my next box in a few weeks and I can't wait to share it with you! Overall, I'm really happy with it. It's fun to get FULL sized products and find out new brands I would not have otherwise found myself!

*This post is not sponsored or endorsed in any way, I purchased my own BumpBox and all opinions are 100% my own.
