Baby Shower Themed Gift Ideas

With my Baby Shower right around the corner (This Saturday!) Baby shower gifts have been on my mind. And I'm not talking gifts for myself. I've gotten so many ideas on what I'd love to gift my friends whenever it's their turn to have a baby.

What I normally do is check out their registries and tie in pieces I think would look cute with their registry picks! I try to make "themes" out of the gifts I choose.

For my friends Baby shower a few months ago, I chose a "bath theme" where I purchased the bathtub she wanted on her registry,  and paired it with items like rubber duckies, washcloths, a hooded towel, and some Baby Shampoo, Body Wash and Lotions and a Book related to bath time.

Some other great ideas for themed gifts would be:

Laundry Themed- You can get some clothespins and string and hang the onesies and socks on the string and put them in the laundry basket. So as they pull them out they will be attached on the string by the clothespins.

Fill a Diaper Bag- Get a diaper bag and fill it with baby bottles,  Baby Wipes (even a cute wipe case) , Some plain onesies just in case an accident happens when on the go and you need a quick change, Snacks.

Sun Theme- Perfect for a Summer Baby, or a family who travels often. Keep baby protected with sunscreen, sunglasses and hat, and complete the set with some fun items like a fun towel,  beach toys and a beach chair.

Some other ideas:

Sleepy Theme-Humidifier, Nightlight, Calming Essential Oils, Snuggly Stuffed animals, and Calming Sounds.

Bed Theme- Similar to the Sleepy Theme, but some alternatives like you could get some bed sheets,  A cute lamp, and a musical mobile.

Safety Theme- First Aid Baby kit,  Owlet baby monitor, Baby video or sound monitors,

Nursery Room Inspiration

Once we officially found out the gender, I started viewing nursery inspiration on Pinterest.-- For those of you who do not already know, we are having a Baby Girl. You can read more about our Gender Reveal party here.  


I became quickly obsessed with Gold, Pink and Grey and decided to design our nursery room in those colors. I knew I wanted grey walls with pink and gold details throughout the room.

I found a crib sheet set on Carousel Designs that I instantly fell in love with. So I knew I wanted to incorporate chevron and polka dot patterns in the room too!

 



I also really love the shabby chic picture frames, and hope to somehow incorporate that into our design.  I will be working with a designer from Laurel and Wolf to help design the nursery. I won it from the Ellen show, so I will be using it towards the nursery! (More on that later) P.S. they are offering 50% off their design services using code SUMMER50.

 
I just love these colors together! We are pretty set on painting the walls grey, and my parents just purchased our crib and dresser in a lighter grey so I am thinking we will go with a little darker grey than originally planned. I think it's going to turn out really cute and I can't wait to share the process!
 

Weekending

Happy Monday lovies! Another weekend comes to an end, which is always such a bummer. The Hubby and I really kicked things into gear this weekend to get stuff done. He was originally planning on going out of town to the river but I convinced him to stay and help get the nursery ready, now that we KNOW it's a girl. 

We double checked this weekend and went to an ultrasound place to verify. I wanted to make sure before buying some pink items! We got to see her hiccup too, it was so cute!

On Friday I started going through the room getting rid of the rest of things I've had in boxes that's just been sitting in there for the past few years. Mostly miscellaneous items, some I gave away for free and the wedding items which I ended up keeping and storing in a bin to be placed in the garage. It felt good to finally go through almost everything and clear out the junk and de-clutter. It's been a long time coming. I also completed and shipped out my last aisle runner order for the year. (I'm taking some time off from the shop to prep for Baby Girl-- I may reopen a little beforehand but I didn't want to overwhelm myself.)

Once Saturday came around, we took hubby's car to the shop for an oil change and then went to breakfast. I haven't had much coffee while being pregnant, so I treated myself to some with breakfast. 

So worth it.

After breakfast we hit the mall to take his phone in since the charging pad hadn't been working properly. It ended up being filled with lint. He took a little tool and scooped it out of the charging area and it worked perfectly after that. Who knew?!  Once that was fixed we went to Babies R Us to start our First Baby Registry. Hubby took the scanner from me and we picked everything out together. (I was pretty shocked he was so into it! He was having too much fun.)

We had such a great experience with the employees. They were very helpful and thorough and we even got a Welcome gift with some goodies!

After we got a pretty good idea of what we needed, I decided I could do the rest online. We went through the entire store, but I knew I needed to research some things. This is all so new to me, and I have no idea what we need! So if you have any tips or suggestions please comment your input! I'm open ears!

We went to pick up hubbies car and take the truck in for service too and went to Home depot to pick out paint and paint supplies for the nursery. I knew I wanted grey for the walls so we decided on Behr Cool Ashes Grey. Hubby went to town touching up the baseboards and prepping the tape to begin painting. While he did that, I continued to De-clutter my office and around the house. 

Once he prepped everything, and painted the baseboards, we headed to Buy Buy Baby to begin our second registry. I of course had to take advantage of the "Expectant Mothers Parking."

Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby have some different options from one another so it was kind of like getting a "second opinion." And to add some different items to the registry. We also got a Welcome Bag from them too!

We eventually called it quits for the day and ordered some salad, pizza and cheese bread and enjoyed it on the patio while conversing with the neighbors. I also found this American Flag bandana while cleaning and of course had Oscar wear it the rest of the night.

They got a little bit of pizza scraps too!

On Sunday, hubby finished painting the room and we watched some of the sporting events for the NCAA.  We were waiting for the Cal State Fullerton Baseball Game vs. Long Beach for the NCAA and they won are heading to Omaha for the World Series! Whoo hoo! 

Overall we had a very productive weekend and I feel so much better getting things done! We get our crib and dresser delivered this week so I wanted to really get a head start on everything.

Ellen's Mother Day Show Recap

If you've been following me along on Instagram or Facebook, then you know I was one of the lucky ones to be chosen to attend the Ellen Show for her Mother's Day special! (P.S. it aired May 11th, 2017) - I also posted a few of the photos and links on my Pinterest Board for this show!

I was so ecstatic when I received the email from Ellen that I was invited to be an audience member! I literally cried tears of happiness. In the email, it let us know to bring a Large vehicle so we made sure we came prepared! My mom and I drove the truck out to Burbank early in the morning and spent some time with my aunt who lives less than a mile away from the Warner Brother Studios. We knew we would hit some traffic with the work commuters since it was a Wednesday so we wanted to make sure we got to her house early in case we had any issues.  My friend was chosen to go to the show as well and met us at my aunts house before.  

My friend and I went to grab some lunch before we had to check-in for the show. We parked, got our Ellen parking pass, and walked around the corner to the cutest Italian restaurant called Ciao Cristina. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend it! It was very good and they had some great options! My friend and I both ordered off the lunch menu; I ordered the Pizza Pocket which was served with pasta salad, and let me tell you... it hit the spot! 
We knew it was going to be a long day so we wanted to fill our bellies so we weren't starving, especially while pregnant.

After lunch we got in line and checked in. Then the waiting game began. We got picked to be interviewed, but didn't get chosen, I'm still not sure what it was for because they never did anything with the girls who got picked.  We waited for them to call our numbers to cross the street into the studio.

It was a pretty quick process once we crossed the street, and went through the security line. We walked through the Ellen shop and of course they had some Ellen onesies lined up for sale. They were cute! I should have bought one! But I didn't want to carry it around before the show.

They had food set out for all the Mom-to-Be's, which they normally do not have for their regular shows, so that was a nice touch for the Mother's Day special! Once we got into the theater they gave us our seats. (Middle, 7th row back!) They got us amped up for the show, did some pregnancy dancing with the ladies, and had a few dance contests. It was really fun!

On the show, they started off with some gifts in the very beginning, and moved on to introduce the pickle guy, a sexy "Dr." with a delivery room, and an actual EMT in case anyone went into labor (There were TWO girls who were like a week away from giving birth!) The guests of the show were Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. They were SO funny together!  If you missed the episode, you can watch clips from it here.
