I Think I Care More For Animals Than People

So.. the other night I had to rush my sweet fur baby to the Emergency Vet in the middle of the night because he started throwing up blood.  It started off one day with my other fur baby.  He had a bad case of diarrhea.  I called the vet to see his opinion on what to do and he mentioned to have him fast for a day but to give him pepto bismol.  Shortly after  my other dog got diarrhea.  So then I started giving him pepto as well every 4-6 hours.   Then one night, my first dog seemed to be doing better.  We gave him a bland diet of rice and egg, and of course he devoured it.   Then later that evening he puked it all up, which I figured was normal if he was already not feeling well.  Then more puking followed and I noticed blood in it.  That freaked me out.  So I immediately called the vet to see what to do, they told me to bring him in right away.   We rushed him to the Emergency Vet Hospital.

When we got there, my mom saw a dog that was taken into a room where you could sorta see the forms of body's but couldn't see detail.  The dog was laying on the floor and you could tell the woman was crying.  We knew instantly that the dog was being put down and I started balling my eyes out.   If it were a human I'd be sad, but for some reason because it was an animal, I felt so much worse for the family.  Dogs and all pets are like our best friends.  They are always happy to see you and when they are no longer with us, you feel a void in your life.  It was then that I realized I think I care more about animals than I do people.  Maybe it's because they can't be explained what's going on or maybe I just love animals so much I just wish they could live forever.  Whatever the case, I feel so sorry for them sometimes.  Just as I felt sorry for my sweet fur babies when they were not feeling well and there wasn't anything I could do.

They ended up giving my sweet baby fluids which they injected into his back.  It made a huge, cold to the touch, bubble on his back which slowly went through his body to hydrate him.
It was the craziest thing I've ever seen.

They also gave him two other shots.  One to help with nausea, and one to act like a pepcid ac.   So far today he has been a trooper, and does have an appetite, although we aren't supposed to give him food till this evening.  He's been running around, looks happy, just sleepy.   I just want him to feel better and be his normal self again.he night just hours before taking

Here are a few videos I made with my fur babies the same night (before) we took my white/black pup to the vet.

2. Pepto

It's safe to say.. I'm a nerd and LOVE my babies.

7.12.14 {The Cake}

I think it's safe to say our cake was stunning and it deserves it's very own post.  We had our cake made from Scrumptious Cakes and not only did it look pretty but it was the best cake I've ever tasted. (And I don't even like cake).  We chose three flavors.  Butterfinger crunch (which is what we chose for the top layer and middle layer), Oreo, and marble. All were outstanding.  We even received compliments about how delicious it was.  It was beautifully decorated by our fabulous florist Jenny B Floral Designs.  We knew we wanted a cascade of flowers on our cake, and a beautiful display of flowers underneath the cake under a glass table top.  My husbands grandfather built the cake box for us, and I painted and rhinestone wrapped it and it sure displayed our cake so beautifully and elegant.  Some of the photos don't even do it justice!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend!
I am co-hosting for our weekend recaps with Bella from Dateless in Dallas

So, the hubby has been out of town due to his grandpas passing a few weeks ago, so I was able to get a lot done around the house Friday. I did laundry, cleaned, vacuumed, you name it, I did it.  Around 8 pm I left to go to my girlfriends house to see her and her sweet baby.  We had pizza and just chatted for a few hours until I headed home.  It's nice to spend a few hours away to catch up.   When I got home, I noticed my dog wasn't feeling well.  So I had to wash all the bedding in his crate-- it was a mess. I woke up in the middle of the night to him squatting on the floor because he couldn't control it.  Poor thing.  So there I was 3 am, 4 am, and 7 am, cleaning all that up.

Saturday I slept till about 8, I was so exhausted after waking up so many times from the night before.  I ended up bringing them to my parents and relaxed over there during the day.  Around 7 pm, I went out with two girlfriends who both just had babies recently so we called it a mommies night out.  Even though, I am the only one without a baby!  So I pretended since I have fur-babies!  We went to dinner and hit some bars near the restaurant.  We had a lot of fun, despite the creepers.
I stayed at my rents that night.
Before going out

After going out
Sunday I literally did nothing all day.  Seems like a trend recently, right? I took naps throughout the day, and around noon grabbed In & Out.  It was nice to not wear makeup all day, and to let my skin breathe.  When 4 pm came around, I went to Michaels with my mom to pick up a few things for my etsy shop.   We ordered Chinese take out and were lazy all day taking care of my sweet fur baby.

**Also, here is a sneak peak of an aisle runner I am working on

#Blogtober14, Fall Fashion

Okay, I'm going to be honest right off the bat-- I am not a fashionista by any means.  Although, I'm sure you already knew that by reading this blog. Obvi I suck at fashion.
Sure I may have some "cute" tops occasionally, but the whole "trend" thing has never been my thing.  However, when I hear "fall fashion," I instantly think of the following (and that makes me smile)    :

-Top 5 things I love about fall fashion-
1. Boots. (they rarely go "out of style")
2. Lots of big comfy sweaters/ jackets
3. Scarves.  (also like number uno)
4. Fall colors (Neutrals, oranges, reds)
5. Sock buns.  (Don't hate me for being l-a-z-y-- aint nobody got time for dat)

P.S. I am linking up with Helene and Tay for the #blogtober14 linkup.

#Blogtober14 Favorite Quote

I was debating on posting anything for the #blogtober14, but decided I had to.  I mean how could I pass up one of my favorite quotes?  I think about this quote at least a few times a week, and I really believe in the meaning behind it.

I really believe everyone should live by this rule.  It's simple, yet means so much.

Blog Tip: Are You A No-Comment Blogger?

Chances are, you may not know whether or not you are classified as a "No Comment Blogger."  I know I had no idea until this sweet gem told me I was. (Thanks girl!)

Step 1 - Check to see if you are a "noreply" blogger
  • Make a comment on your own blog
  • Check your email to see if you received the comment
  • Check to see who the email is from. Is it your email address? or "noreply-comment@blogger.com
  • If it is from noreply-comment@blogger.com, than you are classified as a No-Reply Blogger and will need to make some changes. (::Insert sad emoji here::)

Notice how next to my email shows the email address?
If I were a no-comment blogger, It would look like so:

Step 2 - Go to your Blogger dashboard
    • Click on the gear in the upper right hand corner
    • If you are using Google+, choose "Revert to Blogger Profile" (this is only temporary)
If there is no "revert to blogger" then you are already using blogger versus google+, and you are good to go.

Step 3 - Back to the Blogger dashboard
  • Click on your name in the upper right hand corner of your blog Overview page
  • In the drop down box click on "Blogger Profile"

Step 4 - Edit your profile
    • Click on the "Edit Profile" button in the upper right hand corner

Step 5 - Change Email Settings
    • Check the box "Show my Email Address"
    • Click on "Save Profile" at the bottom of the page

Now, when you receive comments via email and you reply, they will be able to see your replies! It really does make the world a better place.  Now it's your turn to link up your blogger tips and tricks and help share your skills with the blogging community!

Weekend Recap

Hello! Happy Monday!
Sorry for slack-a-lackin on updating my weekends lately...
I also have been ridiculously awful at taking photos lately.

Friday evening, the hubs and I took it easy as he's been out of town because his grandpa was in the hospital.  He ended up passing away last week, so he came home late Thursday.  We watched our favorite show, Criminal Minds, and ended up falling asleep on the couch until about 2 when I woke him up to go to bed.

Saturday, we moved more stuff to our home.  I swear it's a never ending process.   Somehow I was able to get the dresser upstairs.  Where that strength came from, I have no idea.  We also went to the mall, and went shopping for a new BBQ.  We found a few we really liked so hopefully that will be part of our Birthday present!  We went to a brunch at Lazy Dog Cafe.  I am obsessed with that place!
Later that evening, we went out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant and then hit the bars nearby after.  I drank a little too much, because the entire next day (Sunday) was a complete waste.  I really cannot hang like I used to.

Letter To Yourself in Ten Years

I am linking up for my #Blogtober2014, with Helene in Between and today's prompt is A Letter To Yourself in Ten Years.

Dear Lisa,
So far, 25 has been your year.  You have accomplished so much in this little time on earth.  You married the man of your dreams, bought your first home and opened your Etsy shop.  You went on two fun cruises.  You also killed your very first black widow the other day.  I know how much you are afraid of spiders.  Man, you be living the life.  Your best friend had her first baby boy.  He is such a cutie!  You realize that you have learned so much in the past few years of blogging, and are still excited to continue to grow and learn new things.  You've been very creative with your home decor and are excited for the upcoming Holiday seasons to decorate.  You do need to get out and start exercising more.. those dog walks don't count for much!  Do it for your health.  Wednesday night, October 8th, your husbands grandfather passed away.  You will want to remember how kind and caring he was, and how much he loved everyone.  He will truly be missed.  You will make a bucket list for the next year.  You also suck at writing, so you better work on that and come up with better ideas.  I'll keep this short.. so bring on the next 10 years!

Our Home : Before & After as of lately

After being granted the keys to our beautiful new home, I knew I wanted to repaint it before we moved any furniture in.  The paint that was originally there wasn't terrible, but it didn't have a nice flow like I wanted it to-- That and the fact that they used an eggshell finish on the entire house-- not ok.   The hubby didn't like the fact that I wanted to make everything a little more neutral because I knew we were eventually going to redo the kitchen counter tops, get a new couch since the old green one has been through some rough college days, get a new living room coffee table and side table, a new washer and dryer, and purchase a new fridge.  Even the walk-in pantry was painted a darker color and it felt like you were walking into a dark hole.

The hubby and I were also very much in need of some new living room furniture.  We originally had a fabric sectional couch that was very comfortable, but I was always on edge about the color; a musty green.  Not only that, but this couch has been around for the last 8 years, and it was time for a change.

--Sorry couch, it's been real--

We went to our local Ashley's furniture to get an idea of what we were looking for.  I've always been hesitant of purchasing a leather couch because I have never owned one before, and have always been worried about our two fur pups scratching it.  Let's just say... we are VERY pleased with our purchase and its nice to have new furniture to start our life together in our new home.

The major new things we've added are our new sofa, drapes, side table and coffee table.

 {Some photos taken by First Team Real Estate}

Before: Living Room
{notice the dark mantle}
We got rid of the dark paint on the mantle and fireplace and lightened it up.  We replaced the gold curtains with a maroon-red tone with a pattern, and hung up our wedding photos behind the couch.
After: Living Room

Before: Kitchen
We got rid of the green kitchen paint.
 After: Kitchen

We added two different tones in the dining room

 Before: Master Bedroom
We decided to have our bed on the left wall to make the room a little larger.
After: Master Bedroom

Before: Master Bathroom

After: Master Bathroom

Before: Patio
We removed the large tree that attracted too many spiders for my liking.  We just planted something beautiful.. I'll photograph soon!

 Before: Bedroom 2
The now.. is really not pretty yet.  beware.

After: Bedroom 2

See how the walls are no longer dark blue?

Before: Bedroom 3 (Our Office)
We got rid of the dark blue/gray  walls in both spare bedrooms, and painted them a neutral color and one wall  was painted a shade darker.  It ended up brightening up the room and making it appear larger.

After: Bedroom 3

Of course the matching dog bed below

One heck-of-a-mess:  Whew.. I promise we are still unpacking.

Bathroom 2:

Okay, I had to figure out a way to hold extra TP in the downstairs guest bathroom..
Why not throw it in a basket, add some florals and lotions and boom! A way to make TP look cute? Sure.. why not.

Before: Bathroom 3
After: Bathroom 3

And there you have it.  All of the current home photos.  Stay tuned, we will be updating soon!
