Gender Reveal Party

Before we received the news that we were expecting, I knew I wanted to have some sort of Gender Reveal party. The idea of finding out such exciting news in a party environment, surrounded by our friends and loved ones, was much more appealing than being in a quiet doctor's room.

The next big question was - will we be in on the surprise, or will we find out at the party with everyone else? I originally wanted to find out with just my husband and I and have that moment together, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to find out the same time as everyone else. That and I didn't know if I'd be able to keep it a secret from everyone! So we decided to hold out and be surprised at our own gender reveal. I really didn't have a hard time waiting, I figured I hadn't known for 22 weeks, so what's another day? My husband was the eager one though! He kept trying to get me to open the envelope. (Which I hid, and then I made a "fake" envelope with a note that basically said he was a sucker for opening it that I had left out on the kitchen table to see if he would try to be sneaky--which he did not end up opening! So he passed the test, haha!)

At first I was convinced that we were having a girl, but then other times I would think boy. I really did not have a clue what he or she was going to be. I knew the theme I wanted for our gender reveal, Baseballs or Bows? Since my husbands family is a huge baseball family, the theme fit perfectly. I found the perfect invitation on etsy from Magical Invitations. The shop owner was so easy to work with, and I received my custom PDF from her within a few hours. I had them printed on Vista Print and they shipped within a week. The process was very easy and stress free.

After ordering the invitations, I started a private Pinterest board to gather ideas and inspiration and ideas, and it's now public here if you want to take a peek at our inspiration for the party.

I created an old wives tale prediction chart, the pink text for girl and the blue text for boy. As you can see there were more pink than blue.

I also made a Voting station for guests to place their votes. More guests voted BOY as you can see.

I kept the decorations simple with streamers and balloons and had a banner in the family room saying "Boy or Girl." We set up some tables outside with corn hole so the guys could have something to do.

We had sandwiches, pinwheels, pasta salad, grape salad, olives, fruit, a jalopeno corn dip and a spinach artichoke dip. For the dessert table, we had cupcakes, dipped white oreos, and a cake. For drinks, we made pink lemonade, a blue Hawaiian pineapple drink, and iced tea.  We also had some beers and water available.

After everyone got some food, and mingled, we decided to make our way up to the greenbelt up the street to do our big reveal. I gave my friend the box that contained two different color baseballs that I ordered from an etsy shop -Gender Reveal Parties--one baseball was filled with blue and one with pink.  I gave her the envelope that the Dr. sealed for us so no one would peak! My friend was the only one to know for those few minutes up the street. She tried not making eye contact with anyone. It was funny.

We did a practice shot first, and then the big reveal!  I swear my husbands really excited and he was putting on somewhat of an act. Haha! It was funny when he threw the bat down.

It was such a fun party and so great to see everyone! Now that we know it's a GIRL, we can start our Baby Registry and planning for the Baby Shower and the nursery! Oh and figuring out a name!
