Weekend Recap : Christmas Weekend

Good Morning! Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas-filled weekend.  It's never easy getting back to work the Monday after a Holiday.  That's for sure! Showered With Design

On Wednesday, I had to work a half day, but the evening was spent with dinner at Outback Steakhouse and then driving around looking at Christmas lights, watching Christmas movies with the fam, and sipping hot cocoa in my pajamas. There's just something so magical about Christmas that brings so much joy.

We woke up Thursday morning bright and early to start opening presents by the tree while sipping hot coffee. We also let our fur babies open their own gifts.  They aren't necessarily good at it, but they know they have something wrapped in the wrapping paper!  It's too funny watching them try to open their gifts!  After presents were opened and our stockings were empty, we began cooking Christmas breakfast. (A small tradition we've always done) We always cook the simple stuff like eggs, toast, and bacon served with some cold Orange juice. Always so delicious and heartwarming!  After breakfast we cleaned up and got ready for family to arrive!

Just a few of the Christmas gifts received were Tory Burch sunglasses, Victoria's Secret Pajamas, a Nike hoodie, Keurig  Carousel, Mac Eyeshadow Palette,  Hazelnut K-cups, several gift cards, and more!
We spent the majority of the day cooking, laughing, conversing, and drinking our Christmas beverage: Vodka, Cranberry Juice, and Orange Juice in our Holiday glasses I made years ago.  That night we walked around the lake by my parents house and looked at lights.  So beautiful!

Very early Friday morning, my husband and I woke up to head on our long, boring, 5 hour drive to his parents to spend the weekend with them.  Once we finally arrived around 10 am, I hurried to get ready so we could open presents and get the day started. His parents got me a hanging jewelry organizer with a mirror, socks, a warm thermal to wear to the snow, and gift cards!

We took his younger brother to the baseball field so he could use his new bat.  I helped by getting all the balls he hit in the outfield haha!

Our fur puppies got some cute gifts too! They got sweaters, chew bones, and new toys from both Grandmas!

Friday night, we went out for their family friends birthday! She got a selfie stick as one of her presents from Santa so of course we had to use it!   We stopped at a pizza place and then went bowling.  We play poker as we bowl.  For instance you start off with 3 cards, and in order to get your 4th card you need to bowl a strike or a spare.   Same way to get your 5th card.  Once you have 5 you are in the running to win.   The only way to exchange a card for a new one in the deck is to bowl a strike or spare.  Of course you try to get the highest poker hand to win!   So I put my cards in my back pocket and three accidentally fell into the toilet.  What a bummer. haha!

We woke up early Saturday to head an hour to the snow! I hadn't been to the snow in two years so it was so fun to be able to go with his family!

Later that night we watched the Holiday bowl, NEBRASKA vs. USC.  So bummed USC won!
We were supposed to go to that game but decided not to.

Sunday we woke up and had breakfast with his family and went to Dicks Sporting Goods to exchange on of my hubby's Christmas gifts from his brother.  Then we had lunch at Red Robin before we made the 5 hour drive home.

We had such a fun Christmas Weekend.  I'm so sad it's over.  Now it's time to prep for the New Year!  I feel like this year flew by! So many great memories from 2014!  What are your 2015 New Years goals?

If you missed Part 3 of our Honeymoon Recap, you can catch up here.

Sorry I'm finally getting down to finishing our Honeymoon recap. Better late than never!

On day three of our cruise we arrived in Antigua.  We decided to take on horse back riding with our new friends we met on the cruise.  We've been horse back riding before but not alongside the beach. (Which was pretty awesome)  It was beautiful outside.

The horse riding tour took us along the beach as well as in their villages.

The cool thing I noticed is that all the islands had their own cannons  right on the edge of the water with forts.  They were pretty neat to see because they were built a long time ago so it was cool to see part of the islands history.

I was excited when we were able to take the horses bareback [as I have never done that before ] and cool off in the water.  You could tell the horses loved it!

We also pulled off to the side to let the horses have a snack and rest.

It's so crazy how different the horses are compared to the ones in America.  Much skinnier.

We had so much fun riding horses, we decided to keep it pretty low key at night and went to a few comedy shows which ended up being hilarious.

Stay tuned, more honeymoon as well as wedding recaps are on their way soon!
